Unfolding

Unfolding explores transformation through acts of dismantling and reconstruction. Each of the fifteen works originated from a single, large canvas painted as one continuous surface, where gravity and water directed the movement of pigment. The canvas was then cut apart, stitched, reassembled, and sculpted, allowing the work to evolve beyond the limitations of the flat picture plane.

As sections of canvas lift away from the surface, the boundaries between figure and ground, painting and object, become increasingly fluid. The process mirrors an ongoing investigation into perception, identity, and the ways meaning shifts through change.

Created to be rotated, regrouped, and rearranged, these works reject a fixed composition. Instead, Unfolding embraces transformation as a continual state of becoming, where both the artwork and the self remain open to discovery.
